KPI Bowling chart

KPI Bowling Chart is a visual tool used to track and display the performance of various KPIs against set targets or benchmarks.

It’s a valuable tool for organisations to monitor and communicate the performance of their key metrics against defined targets, facilitating better strategic planning and performance management.

After creating your KPIs, they will automatically appear in the bowling chart:

  1. Select KPI page in the menu.
  2. Click the bowling chart icon in the upper right corner:

How to read and understand the Bowling chart from left to right:

  1. Key performance indicator: All your created KPIs in the strategy are listed here.
  2. Org unit: The organization unit/department accountable for the KPI
  3. Unit: The chosen unit to measure your KPI (%, EUR, subscription etc.)
  4. Actual: The actual progress of the KPI. Actual is showing the latest update of the overall KPI. Depending on the unit chosen to measure the KPI, Actual can be a number (eg. the number of subscriptions, EUR) or the percentage number if the unit is %.

The default deviation-color indicators are as follows: Light Green (10%), Green (0%), Yellow (-10%), Orange (-20%), and Red (-30%).

  5.  Target: The target set when you created your KPI.
  6. Progress: The progress shown in percentage (Regardless of your choice of unit).
  7. Under each month you see the Actual progress (based on your status update) and the month’s Target. Target is controlled in two ways:
    1. If you don’t use milestones on KPIs, the monthly target is your overall target distributed equally based on start and due date for the KPI. We take into consideration that some months are shorter than others. For example, February has fewer days than August, so that is why you can experience the target differ in the different months.
    2. If you use milestones, it is the milestones set that will control the target value.

Be aware, that the bowling chart only shows one calendar year at a time. You will always find January on the list, even if your KPI starts in November. The bowling chart will show a new year when we pass December.
